Client:                                                                        Crown Worldwide

Location:                                                                  20 sites across UK

The Client business

Crown Worldwide is a leader in mobility management, relocations, records management and logistics services:  It is privately owned and has worldwide revenues in excess of £200 million.

Energy problem

Crown is a large global business with large overheads and currently has 4 million square feet of warehouse space around the world.  The energy costs alone make up a significant part of the company’s operating costs.

Crown Worldwide has appointed Engenia to reduce the unit price of electricity and gas paid, and to then implement a full consumption reduction programme over the next 3 years.

Engenia solution

Engenia audited 20 Crown offices in the UK and looked at their consumption of gas, electricity and water.  In addition, Engenia were able to find Crown an alternative supplier of gas and electricity which saved them more than £23,000 instantly.

While this is a relatively new client for Engenia, the instant savings on gas and electricity will fund the programme of energy saving products and devices that can reduce their overall consumption and dramatically lower their energy bills.

Engenia result so far

In just a few weeks, Engenia has managed to save Crown Worldwide £23,000 on their utility bills.  Over a three year period, Engenia is on track to save Crown Worldwide

 £50,000 over 3 years

Primary energy saving areas:                             Electricity saving on AC usage

Client:                                                                        Bella Italia

Location:                                                                  Northampton

The Client business

Bella Italia is a chain of 63 restaurants throughout the UK.  The restaurants bring reasonably priced, ‘Italian inspired’ dishes to the British public.  Their offering ranges from cappuccinos through the day, to a full Italian menu in the evenings.

Energy problem

Most restaurant chains in the UK now offer an air conditioned environment for their customers to enjoy.  However, air-conditioning left on all day, can use enormous quantities of electricity, which in turn can seriously erode a small restaurant’s profit margins.

Engenia solution

Engenia audited Bella Italia Northampton and looked at their consumption of gas, electricity and water.  In particular, Engenia was asked to look at the amount of energy used by the air-conditioning system.

Engenia installed its own Cooling OptimiserTM which increases the efficiency of single split DX air conditioning, package units and chilled water systems. .It achieves savings without detriment to the environment. It is fully automatic, plug and play, simple to install, tamper proof and holds a 2 year guarantee.

Engenia were able to reduce Bella Italia Northampton’s electricity bill by 25%.

Engenia result so far

In just a few months, Bella Italia Northampton has seen its electricity bill drop by

Over 25%

Engenia is currently surveying other Bella Italia restaurants to replicate this success.

Client:                                                                        Low Sizergh Barn & Tea Shop

Location:                                                                  Kendal, Cumbria

The Client business

Low Sizergh Barn is a well known stop in South Lakeland where there is a farm shop, tea room, craft gallery and farm trail on an organic dairy. The farm shop is filled with one of the best selections of local and speciality foods in Cumbria, with farm products -- organic Kendal cheese, organic eggs and ice cream made from their own organic milk.

There are two galleries of crafts and gifts, one in the shippons where the cows once lived, and a tea room with an unusual view – visitors can watch the cows being milked every day around 3.45pm.

Energy problem

Because the shop, craft gallery and tea shop are all in converted farm buildings, there is limited natural light.  This meant that high watt bulbs were being burned day in day out.  The electricity bills were getting higher and higher and having a serious impact on the businesses profitability.

In addition, Low Sizergh Barn is run on organic  and ethical principles and the owners feel that all businesses have a duty to look for ways to reduce energy consumption.

Engenia solution

Engenia audited Low Sizergh Barn to establish their electricity consumption over one week including the number of hours lights were switched on.,and the net cost of electric, heating and water.

Engenia implemented a solution that focused on electricity consumption reduction and lamp replacement.

The cost of the replacement lamps was £1637.00 Engenia prediced a payback on that investment within four months.

Engenia result

Engenia managed to save Low Sizergh Barn £439.00 per month – which over a 12 month period is in excess of

 £5,200 per year
